december in paris.

The first weekend in December I took a little trip to Paris with my roommates Lydia and Michelle and our friends Arielle and Ashley. The weather was overcast-- we took our umbrellas and explored the area around Hotel De Ville, searching for my favorite vintage shops and window shopping on quiet streets glowing with holiday lights. We ate pistachio, coconut and blackberry macaroons from Laduree, climbed the steps to the Sacre Coeur in Montmartre, vintage shopped for days, wandered through Rodin's garden and sipped coffee at Les Deux Magots, a cafe frequented by Hemingway and Picasso.

new designs from an old friend.

When I was in Paris last weekend, I stumbled upon an amazing bookstore where I found a pleasant surprise. Our friend Vahram Muratyan put together a book of his graphic comparisons of Paris and New York City. Of course, my roommates and I all picked up a copy. Designs Via Paris Versus New York.

libri e più libri.

My favorite bookstore in Rome, AltroQuando, has the best selection of contemporary art, film, design and music books. They even have a basement complete with bar and stage where local musicians play. The only problem is fitting everything I want into my luggage and getting it back to NYC...

venezia in film.

A couple weeks ago I spent the weekend in Venice with Michelle and Gina. We stayed in the most amazing hostel overlooking the water with vaulted ceilings and marble statues and ornaments adorning the walls. It was absolutely freezing, but we wandered around the little alleyways of the tiny islands day and night, anyway. We took a taxi boat over to the island of Murano to visit a glassblowing factory and watch the professionals make beautiful pieces and snapped shots of anything and everything. Here are a  few of Michelle's fabulous disposable shots. More to come!
