gaudi day.

Inspired by my love of Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Vicky's love of everything Antoni Gaudi, we set out in search of the famous architect's works, from Park Guell's magical mosaic lizard and twisting rock pillar archways to the unrivaled interior of the world-renowned temple La Sagrada Familia. After touring the temple, we found a small gallery that revealed that inspiration for Gaudi's works is rooted in nature-- La Sagrada's famed ceiling is made up of 'tree trunks' and a 'forest canopy' and its detailing contains geometric features derived from nature. We ended our tour with a stop at Casa Mila, where Gaudi's organic, curved architecture seemed to blend seamlessly with the bustling city of Barcelona.
